Yusuf Bodiat is the CFO at The Federated Employers Mutual Assurance Company (RF) (Pty) Ltd (FEM), a medium-sized non-life insurance company specialising in workmen’s compensation to the construction industry. FEM has over 6 000 policyholders covering the lives of their 300 000 employees and has assets in excess of R8 billion. Yusuf also serves on the board of the FEM Education Foundation, a non-profit organisation focused on making a systemic impact in education in South Africa, which he is passionate about.

More recently, Yusuf has been responsible for spearheading several COVID-19 special initiatives and projects to assist FEM’s policyholders and their employees, the construction industry and society at large.

Prior to his various roles at FEM, Yusuf worked at a medium-sized insurance company where he began as the Financial Reporting Manager and shortly thereafter was promoted to Acting CFO. His CA(SA) journey began in the financial services team at Deloitte, where he continued as an audit manager after completing his articles.

Yusuf has two primary career goals: his medium-term goal is to become a CEO of a financial services company while his long-term goal is to develop into a non-executive director by profession. His objective is to specialise in entities within the financial services industry and non-profit organisations in the education sector.
