Managing Partner at Alpha BPO

Andrew Portmann completed his articles at BDO in Umhlanga where he was exposed to a multitude of SMEs and large corporations and learnt the intricacies of starting and building companies from a variety of inspirational business leaders.

Since articles, he has acquired extensive global corporate sector experience having worked across four continents. Using his experience as a CA(SA), Andrew has become a well-rounded business leader in the accounting, financial services, SaaS and business process outsourcing sectors.
He has demonstrated a track record of effective strategic leadership that has delivered target-driven bottom line results and shareholder value for clients and investors alike. Andrew has led globally diverse teams and operations across the UK and South Africa through an inclusive management approach, having provided business process outsourcing services and SaaS products to large firms in the UK to South Africa’s largest retail credit providers. He strives to be an impactful leader, using his business interests to uplift the communities in which he carries on business.

After contributing as CFO in a group of companies focused on the insolvency industry in South Africa, Andrew co-founded a company in late 2019 to focus on providing highly skilled South African graduates opportunities to work on behalf of international professional companies. This company has since grown to over 300 staff members working in professional services outsourcing and continues to grow from strength to strength.

Having a passion for SaaS, he was instrumental in the development and implementation of the only bespoke CRM for debt review in South Africa. He has since started his own software development company which has developed bespoke systems for insolvency in the UK as well as a traditional legal case ware for traditional authorities in Southern Africa, which is being implemented in Eshowe, KZN.

Andrew’s commitment to South Africa is exemplified through his charitable initiative, the Sprout Foundation, which he co-founded in 2020. The Sprout Foundation focuses on youth empowerment and combating unemployment. The foundation’s projects encompass workplace readiness and job expos, feeding programmes for children in need, and improvement initiatives for less-privileged schools.
