In his role as an independent director at the KZN Inland Cricket Union, Virodh’s strategic acumen has been pivotal in propelling the organisation to unprecedented heights. Over the last year, the union achieved affiliation status and secured enhanced funding from CSA, while the professional team, the Tuskers, climbed the ranks to Division 1. Virodh’s financial expertise came to the fore as he adeptly managed the organisation’s finances, not only meeting but surpassing budgetary targets. His commitment to transparency and accountability was underscored by the attainment of an unqualified audit opinion. Moreover, his innovative approach to business development led to the generation of over R1 million in unbudgeted income, propelling the union towards self-sustainability and creating opportunities for aspiring cricketers.

Beyond the cricket field, Virodh’s impact resonates deeply within athletics. He has been serving as a key member of the executive committee of the Save Orion Athletics Club for over a decade. His strategic leadership has been instrumental in transforming the club’s annual race, the Save Orion Race, into one of Pietermaritzburg’s premier running events.

With Virodh at the helm of the finance committee, the club and the race witnessed exponential growth, exemplifying his ability to foster a sense of community and well-being. Under his astute financial stewardship, the club transitioned from financial stability to financial robustness, accumulating substantial reserves. This financial fortitude allows the club to fund athletes, support community initiatives, and host impactful social events, making a tangible difference in the lives of its members and the broader community.

Virodh’s multifaceted contributions extend beyond sport. As an ad hoc lecturer at the University of KwaZulu-Natal, he imparts knowledge and mentorship to future chartered accountants, shaping the next generation of financial leaders.
